Filtration
If your pond will not be completed unless it has fish in it? Then you will require some form of filtration system.
Filtration does two important jobs. Firstly and most importantly it keeps the water healthy and secondly it will keep the water clear.
When deciding on a filter you will discover there are two popular types ‘Gravity Return’ and ‘Pressurised Filters’

Gravity Return Filters;
Water is pumped into the filter and then returned to the pond under the force of gravity. This means that the outlet must be higher than the point of return. This type of filter is generally cheaper than a pressurised model and is more suited to larger ponds.
Pressurised Filters;
Water is pumped through the filter under pressure allowing the water to exit the filter wherever it is required. This gives much more flexibility in positioning and overcomes the problem of gravity; These filters are most suitable for small to medium sized ponds.
